Q. What is the difference between a Notary and Signing Agent?

"A Notary is a public official authorized by state government typically by the Secretary of State to act as an impartial witness to signatures, administer oaths, authenticate copies of documents, attest to signatures made by individuals, and perform other notary acts permitted within his or her jurisdiction." Although Notary Signing Agents (NSA) are Notaries, they must pass an annual exam and background check. NSA's are trained to handle loan documents.

A. "A Notary will ask to see identification (acceptable IDs include a driver's license, military ID or passport) that has a photo, physical description and signature of the person."
Q. Do both parties need to be present to get a document notarized if they live in different locations?
A. " A notary may notarize the signature of one person appearing before them and then the second person can appear before a notary in their city/state and have their signature notarized adding the date it was notaried."
